Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak

LED lights illuminate trees, while 200 illuminated animal sculptures light up the path through the zoo. Tickets are available at the gate, and advance discount tickets are also available.

The Big Bright Light Show, Rochester

Going on now through January 1, 2017 

Buildings are decked out in over 1 million lights from 5pm-midnight. Enjoy strolling carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides, roasted almonds, and even sightings of Santa. 

Holly Dickens Festival, Downtown Holly

Dec 3-4, and 10-11

Horse-drawn carriage rides, caroling, and old fashioned games bring this free Charles Dickens festival to life. 

Menorah in the D, Detroit

Dec 27, 3-8pm, Campus Martius 

This family festival includes a zip line, marshmallow roasting and more. The 26 foot tall Menorah Lighting features fire jugglers and acrobats. There is also an after party at the Cadillac Square heated tent. 

Wayne County Lightfest, Westland

Lightfest features over 55 light up displays all along Hines Drive, and you don't even have to leave the warmth of your car. Now open from 7-10pm Monday through Thursday, and 6-10pm Friday through Sunday. Cost: $5 per car

Holiday walk at Meadow Brook Hall, Rochester

Now through Dec. 22, 2016

Fireplaces ablaze, beautifully decorated trees, and festive music are all part of the fun from 11am-5pm daily. Call ahead for evening hours on select dates, and for various scheduled Santa events too. Cost: Adults $20, Children under 17 $5, Toddlers 2 and under are free. 

Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village, Dearborn

Dec 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 20-23, & 26-30, 2016

Enjoy live entertainment through candle lit village streets, go ice skating, take a carriage ride and watch the beautiful fireworks display. View the beautiful shops decked out for the holidays and even catch a glimpse of Santa with his sleigh and reindeer. Tickets: Adults $26, Seniors $23.50, Ages 3-11 $19.50, Toddlers 2 and under are free. Parking is $6.

Livonia City Tree Lighting & Caroling

Dec 6, 6:30pm

Sing some holiday tunes from the Livonia Civic Chorus, visit Santa, make holiday crafts, and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies at the library. This free event is welcome to all. 

Tree Lighting in Canton

Dec 7, 6-8pm

Enjoy both indoor and outdoor festivities, seasonal entertainment, refreshments and visits with Santa. Cost: Residents $3, Non-residents $4

City of Troy Christmas Tree Lighting & Winter Wonderland

Enjoy live entertainment, sweet treats, and Santa at this free local event.

Family Holiday Fest & Mill Lighting, Westland

Dec 10, 4-6pm

Tree lighting, holiday games, and a special visit from Santa are all part of this fun festival in Westland. Tickets: Adults $2, Kids $6, Age 3 and under are free. Add $1 for non-residents.

Chanukah Wonderland in West Bloomfield

Dec 25-28, Orchard Mall

Activities include an Olive Press Workshop, doughnut baking, bounce house, and more.   Cost: Donation $5
